BBC One, 7pm

After last week’s glamorous launch show, tonight is the first time the new celebrities will take to the dance floor with their professional dance partners. This is when we’ll get a good idea of who has natural talent and who has two left feet. Historically, this week has been a surprising one! 2014 saw EastEnders star Jake Wood show off his snake hips in a spicy Salsa and in 2020 Bill Bailey performed an energetic quickstep. Judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke will offer their first critiques - good or bad - on everyone’s skills. The celebrities can breathe a sigh of relief, however, as nobody will be voted off this week.

Paid in Full: The Battle for Black Music
BBC Two, 9.25pm

A new three-part series exploring systemic racism faced by black artists in the music industry throughout modern history. Artists such as Louis Armstrong were manipulated by greedy managers, while others such as Bessie Smith were forced to sign exploitative contracts that saw them miss out on the money they deserved. Tonight’s episode explores the stories of artists including Nina Simone and Billie Holiday. Simone, too, suffered from a bad contract with flat fees - losing her tens of millions of dollars. Holiday, on the other hand, was persecuted into bankruptcy before she died of a drug overdose in 1959.

Based on the true story of one of France’s last legally recognised judicial duels in 1386, Damon stars as Jean de Carrouges, a knight who challenges his former friend Jacques le Gris (Adam Driver) to a trial by combat after his wife Marguerite (Jodie Comer) accuses Jacques of rape. First released in cinemas in 2021, film critics called it “thought-provoking” and “well-acted”.
